Thank you for your interest in ASU's MLK Day of Service! We can’t believe the response we have had for our event. We are unable to take any more volunteers for our project on Monday.

We wanted to give you several other options for volunteering on Monday, January 18th.  We cannot offer transportation to any of these events. Thank you!

New Global Citizens at HomeBase Youth Services

To honor the national day of service that is Martin Luther King Day, this year's New Global Citizens' staff & AmeriCorps VISTA members will be working to support a small, local organization in the Phoenix area called HomeBase Youth Services. (http://www.hbys.org/)  We will be serving their kitchen and donation center. Volunteer space is limited, so if you're interested in joining us, please email Chantal at New Global Citizens for more information: chantal@newglobalcitizens.org.

Arizona Sexual Assult Network, Mesa, AZ 85211

This coming January 18th, AzSAN will join our neighbors and serve our community as part of a Martin Luther King Jr. “Day of Service” by facilitating community outreach at the MLK Festival in Mesa. In recognition of the day’s meaning and possibilities, AzSAN will utilize service as a strategy to create change and connect others to our cooperative efforts to reduce the threat of sexual violence within our local communities. A group of volunteers will be doing a "Friendly Visit" with a homebound senior in the area near the Mesa Senior Center. Small groups of volunteers will visit with a socially isolated senior in their home. Each volunteer group will have a team leader who is an experienced volunteer. Volunteers can bring small items to bring to their assigned client. Items that our clients love: lotion, cookies, candy, "comfy" socks, knick-knacks, small bags/pouches or anything the volunteer wishes to bring. Volunteers will pack a special individual gift bag of "goodies," for each client.
